By breeding polled genetics, we are eliminating the pain and discomfort associated with the dehorning procedure, eliminating the labor required to perform the procedure, avoiding the negative effects on growth and meat quality caused by unnecessary stress, and eliminating injury, infection, and carcass damage caused by horned animals. Thus, expanding polled Wagyu genetics is beneficial for the health and wellbeing of the animal, as well as the quality of the product.

Hirashigetayasu contains all three of the Westholme original import bulls in his pedigree (Kedaka, Fujiyoshi, and Tajima). Hirashigetayasu was sired by Dai 20 Hirashige 287, and his dam is Dai 5 Yuruhime. Hirashigetayasu’s daughters have good udders and good milking qualities. Although Hirashigetayasu’s calves tend to have larger birth weights than average Wagyu calves, his calves tend to be easy for cows to birth.

Kenhanafuji is sired by Itohana, and his dam is Hana Fuji. Kenhanafuji has no Tajima blood, rather he’s 75% Fujiyoshi and 25% Kedaka. This sire is the rarest original foundation bull, often called “International Bull of Mystery”. Kenhanafuji is actually the highest-selling Wagyu bull of all time. His calves are Full-Blood black Wagyu sons, even when he’s crossed with high Tajima heifers.
